Cacao from an ancient lineage

Guatemala is one of cacao’s original homelands, the cradle of the Ka’kau tradition. For the Maya, cacao was more than food: it was sacred currency, medicine, and a bridge between worlds. Though much of that ancient lineage faded over time, a quiet renaissance is now unfolding in the lush highlands of Alta Verapaz.

Here, at Hacienda Kampura, cacao grows in harmony with the forest. Once-degraded lands have been reforested with more than 625,000 trees, transforming 700 hectares into thriving agroforestry ecosystems. Within these living forests, over 100 native cacao varieties flourish including all the rare SGU (Guatemala Selection) clones preserved since the 1960s.

A cacao for inspiration and focus

Light acidity & rich depth describes this cacao. The Guatemalan cacao carries a lively, balanced flavour profile: grapefruit, berries, tropical fruits, and raisins, followed by gentle vegetal, floral, and nutty tones.

A smooth, harmonious finish makes it ideal for both ceremonial use and ritual nourishment. Grown in volcanic soils and refined through careful low-temperature roasting and slow sun drying, this cacao offers a fine texture and deep aroma. Crafted to bring clarity, connection, and inner strength. She's grounding and uplifting.

Sustainably grown, regenerating forests and communities

At Kampura, cacao is grown as part of a deeply regenerative vision. By restoring forests and cultivating cacao under the shade of Genuine Mahogany and Honduran Rosewood, two endangered tree species, the farm weaves together biodiversity, livelihood, and cultural revival.

What was once deforested land now flourishes as vibrant forest again. Kampura’s reforestation has earned national recognition as the best forestry plantation in Guatemala, and the farm’s carbon offset projects actively contribute to global climate restoration.

People and purpose: cacao grown with heart

Kampura’s philosophy is rooted in care, not only for nature, but also for people. The community around the farm is treated like family: workers receive above-standard benefits, access to free healthcare and affordable medicine, and ongoing support to improve their quality of life. The farm even hosts an onsite clinic with a nurse open to both employees and local residents, a rare and meaningful gesture in rural Guatemala. Every bean that leaves Kampura carries this spirit of integrity and compassion. A reflection of a farm where quality, sustainability, and humanity grow together.
