Your own Cacao Ceremony

A cup of cacao isn't just something you drink; it's a conscious moment for yourself, filled with peace and love. That's why it's helpful to prepare your space before you start preparing the cacao. Perhaps you have or you feel to create an altar. Light a candle and perhaps some incense or another pleasant scent. Prepare the supplies you feel you need, such as a journal, a card deck, or perhaps you'd prefer to do something creative, to dance, play an instrument or practice yoga. The possibilities are endless, and after setting your intention(s) and consciously drinking your cacao, you'll be enjoying it from your heart.

Prepare the space

To enhance your cacao ceremony, prepare a quiet spot where you won't be disturbed, allowing you to connect with the cacao in peace.

Cleanse

The place where you hold your cacao ceremony becomes a place of power, a focal point of energy. Therefore, it's helpful to do this in a clean and tidy environment. So don't just energetically cleanse the space, but also tidy up and remove any dust or dirt. Anything that could potentially disrupt your experience.

Intention

When you hold a cacao ceremony, you're working with intentions. Whether these are large or small, one or several, feel what is yours in that moment. This way, you can incorporate the intention into every action.

Scent

Scent can also be pleasant, as it often creates a warm, relaxed, and/or safe feeling. Perhaps you have a favorite incense or use essential oils in a diffuser.

Altar

Create an altar, as small or large as you like and reflect your feelings at that moment. It's lovely to incorporate natural elements. Think flowers, stones, shells, candles, ritual goods, and so on.

Create your ceremony

  1. It's helpful to start grounded. Do this by literally sitting as close to the ground as possible, but also by consciously inhaling and exhaling several times. Take a moment to feel your body and arrive deeper in the present moment.

  2. Now take a moment to thank nature, Earth and the people who made it possible that you can experience this cacao. Thank yourself for creating this moment for and invite or thank the spirits you love to work with.

  3. Cacao has a spirit, so commune with it. Before drinking, you can connect with the cacao by holding the cup to your heart, smelling its aroma, and looking into the cacao. It's an energy exchange.

  4. You drink your Cacao with a specific intention. You could even build your entire ceremony around it. Before taking your first sip, you can breathe, whisper, or chant your intention into the cacao like a mantra.

  5. Drink the cacao consciously and slowly, sip by sip, pausing. This allows you to feel the energy and, if necessary, direct it to a specific area.

  6. Once you've finished your cup, sit quietly for a moment and experience what the cacao energy brings you, what it does to you. Remember that everything is okay and is allowed to be there, from emotions to movements.

  7. At the end of your ceremony, close your sacred space and thank the cacao, the earth, yourself, and any other spirits you may have previously invited.
