Don’t • Avoid high doses of cacao during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or consult a healthcare professional first. • Be cautious if you have heart conditions, as cacao stimulates blood flow and the nervous system. • Avoid cacao if you’re taking MAOi or SSRI antidepressants, or sleep medication, unless taken in a very low dose and with awareness. Cacao contains natural MAOi compounds, which can cause headaches in combination, if this happens, drink sufficient water. • Do not drink ceremonial cacao after consuming alcohol, coffee, meat, dairy, citrus fruits, or very heavy meals. This can interfere with the experience and digestion.
