Cacao is nature’s heart medicine called Theobroma, which means 'food of the gods'. Rich in magnesium, iron, and antioxidants, cacao supports a healthy body and mind. It helps improve circulation, enhance focus, and boost mood by stimulating serotonin, dopamine, and anandamide; the 'bliss molecule'.
Beyond the physical, cacao also works on an emotional and energetic level. It gently opens the heart, helping you feel more connected, grounded, and in tune with yourself and others.
Enjoying cacao regularly can support your overall wellbeing, increase your energy, and bring a deeper sense of clarity and calm into your daily life.

Cacao has been used for thousands of years by ancient cultures in Central and South America as a sacred plant medicine, a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds.
It’s known as the 'Food of the Gods' and was used in rituals to open the heart, connect with the divine, and bring communities together in harmony. In ceremony, cacao helps us slow down, feel deeply, and reconnect. With ourselves, each other, and Mother Earth.
The gentle spirit of cacao doesn’t take you on a journey, she brings you home.
Do
• Drink cacao with intention, presence, and respect.
• Stay well hydrated. Cacao can be mildly dehydrating, so drink enough water before and after.
• Start with a lower dose and listen to your body, especially when working with ceremonial or higher dosages.
Don’t
• Avoid high doses of cacao during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or consult a healthcare professional first.
• Be cautious if you have heart conditions, as cacao stimulates blood flow and the nervous system.
• Avoid cacao if you’re taking MAOi or SSRI antidepressants, or sleep medication, unless taken in a very low dose and with awareness.
Cacao contains natural MAOi compounds, which can cause headaches in combination, if this happens, drink sufficient water.
• Do not drink ceremonial cacao after consuming alcohol, coffee, meat, dairy, citrus fruits, or very heavy meals. This can interfere with the experience and digestion.
Cacao, like many plants that grow from the earth, can naturally contain trace amounts of minerals and metals that the soil provides, including elements like lead or cadmium. The levels depend on the region, soil composition, and farming methods.
At Spirit of Cacao, we source only from trusted, small-scale farms that prioritize healthy soil, organic cultivation, and ethical processing. Each batch of cacao is tested and meets all EU food safety standards for heavy metals.
