Ceremonial Cacao:
A Heart-Opening Plant Medicine

Ceremonial cacao is a powerful, heart-opening drink made from 100% pure cacao beans, traditionally used in spiritual and healing ceremonies by indigenous cultures of Central and South America. Unlike processed cocoa powder, ceremonial cacao is minimally processed, keeping its natural fats, nutrients, and energetic qualities intact.

How to prepare your Ceremonial Cacao.

  1. Take the cacao and decide whether you’d like to prepare a light, meditative, or ceremonial dose. Weigh the desired amount or simply follow your intuition.

  2. Lovingly chop the cacao into smaller pieces, this helps when preparing the drink. As you chop, you can already start working with your intentions and even sing to the cacao (the secret ingredient).

  3. Take a pot and heat some water. You’ll need at least 100 ml for one cup (for a higher dose a little bit more). This amount creates a drink that’s not too thick and not too thin.

  4. Make sure the water is well-heated but not boiling. This is important because boiling the cacao can destroy some of its valuable compounds.

  5. Add the cacao to the heated water and stir or whisk until it becomes a creamy drink. You can use a spoon, whisk, or a traditional molinillo. This is another beautiful moment to infuse the cacao with your intentions, love, and song.

  6. During this step, you can also add spices to taste (optional), think cinnamon, cardamom, cayenne pepper, or turmeric for example.

  7. Pour the cacao into your cup and step into your own ceremony, wherever you feel most at peace.
