Don Victor Costa Rica Cacao

Food of the gods

Cacao was extremely important to the indigenous peoples of Central America; it was considered a sacred food with divine origins. They believed that cacao was a gift to humanity from the gods. The word Theobroma in the name of the cacao tree, Theobroma Cacao, means: Theo is God and Broma is Food, or "food of the gods." Cacao is more than a food, it's a medicine. The indigenous Mayans believe that cacao possesses healing powers, which can be experienced by aligning your four bodies: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. This is why cacao is used in elaborate rituals and ceremonies for healing that extend beyond the physical body. Drinking cacao deepens their connection to the spiritual world and strengthens their connection to nature.

The health benefits of Cacao

High in Antioxidants

Cacao is rich in antioxidants, contains high levels of flavanols, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Rich in Magnesium

Cacao contains one of the highest amounts of magnesium compared to other food sources. It supports heart health and is a key mineral for detoxification, muscle relaxation, and reducing the risk of diabetes.

A Treasure of Minerals

In addition to magnesium, cacao is abundant in other essential minerals such as iron, potassium, zinc, copper, calcium, selenium, phosphorus, manganese, and sulfur.

Healthy Fats

The healthy fats in cacao enhance the absorption of nutrients. These fats naturally come from cacao butter, which is present in pure cacao.

Gentle, Long-Lasting Energy

Theobromine is the alkaloid responsible for cacao’s stimulating effect. Compared to caffeine, it provides a softer, longer-lasting energy without the typical crash associated with coffee.

Heart Opener

Theobromine stimulates the heart, dilates blood vessels, and can help lower blood pressure.

Stimulates Feel-Good Hormones

Phenylethylamine (PEA) acts as a mood regulator and triggers the release of endorphins, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Similar to the feeling of being in love.

Reduces Stress, Uplifts Mood

Cacao helps reduce stress, enhances mood, and supports focus and creative flow.

Supports Brain Function

Cacao positively influences the brain by modulating neurotransmitters. It also increases blood flow to the brain, just as it does throughout the body.

Feelings of Happiness and Euphoria

Anandamide, known as the “bliss molecule,” promotes feelings of euphoria and helps regulate mood, memory, appetite, and pain perception.

Source of Serotonin Support

Cacao is a natural source of tryptophan, an amino acid essential for the production of serotonin (which helps reduce anxiety and stress) and melatonin.

Skin Protection and Health

High-flavanol cacao can improve skin hydration, density, and elasticity, while protecting against UV damage.
