The Mayan Cosmovision

The Mayan Cosmovision is beautifully earth-based and encompasses all life. It's an ancestral wisdom passed down from generation to generation, leading us back to the source of pure consciousness. Timeless and vital, it moves in harmony with the rhythms of nature; it listens deeply and invites the breath to descend into the umbilical cord of existence. The same thread that weaves us back into the womb of creation.

This vision is universal. It's not separate from nature but is part of its processes of birth, death, and renewal. For millennia, the Mayan people have safeguarded the interconnectedness of humanity with the universe, nature, the animal kingdom, and all forms of life. Everything is seen as divinely interconnected. We are beings of the earth, carried by a magnetic field that unites the cosmos, the heavens and the land. We're connected from above to below, past, present, and future are interwoven into a living continuum in which nothing stands alone and all life belongs.

In broad terms, that's the Mayan cosmovision. You can delve deeper into any aspect of it, as in its entirety, it represents a true lifelong study. One of the elders I met in Guatemala says, "You never stop learning in life." Even they still belief they'll learn everyday by experiences and nature.

For us at Spirit of Cacao, this cosmology resonates deeply, one of the reasons for this is because our values, beliefs, and truths share many similarities with those of the Maya.
