Dieta del Toj

It has now been just over a month since I began my cacao dieta. In the dark month of December, a time when we're invited to turn inward, slow down, and reflect. I felt deeply that I was meant to enter this earth-based ritual. The seed for this journey had already been planted during my water fast in November. In December, during the trecena ruled by fire (Toj), everything aligned. This time with more devotion, more discipline, more intention, and deeper embodiment.

I found the brightest light in the most darkest month.

For twenty days, I gathered online with like-minded souls in a safe and sacred energetic container. Together we connected with fire, both literally and symbolically, with the spirit of cacao and with the Earth. Each day we shared at least an hour of ancient wisdom, worked with the daily energies of the nahuals, and at times received transmissions and teachings from wisdom keepers from Central America. From lineages and tribes that trace back through generations, to the time of, among others, the Maya.

It was a period of devotion, purification, and remembrance. A profound and transformative journey. The dieta, rooted in ancestral traditions, deepened my relationship with Mama Cacao, it was a true expression of reciprocity. A new step on my path, an ignition of my inner fire, bringing clarity, strength, and remembrance.

Fire is also a living spirit. It transforms, burns straight through illusion, and reveals truth. It listens. It teaches. It is the sun within your heart, the flame hidden deep inside. This twenty-day journey, walking with the days of the Cholq’ij calendar all the way to the Winter Solstice, turned my flame into a fire. I shine my light and my love, remembering more than ever that everything is interconnected. We’re all the same tribe. A small part of the vastness of the universe, gifted with this life here on Mother Earth.

To study the fire is to study the heart.

I'm really grateful for this beautiful experience, the people I met and that it opened a new door which leads to a pilgrimage in Guatemala where I return to the Earth. Guided by Elders, earth-based practices and sacred cacao. Of course we will share about our new journeys like this one.

With love, Nick
